Rajat Pandey

Rajat Kumar Pandey is born in Varanasi and practising visual artist. He holds a BFA (Painting, 2020) and MFA (Painting, 2022) from Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, and completed a one year internship in the Painting Department, Faculty of Visual Arts, BHU, under the SRK Internship Programme. Working primarily in watercolour, oil, acrylic, and pencil, Rajat has a special passion for large scale mural painting, having created numerous murals across public and private spaces. He also explores textile and graphic design, bringing versatility and creativity across different forms of visual art. Rajat Pandey does not claim the title of artist. He thinks of himself instead as a drashta, a quiet observer of the world as it unfolds. For him, to witness is the most honest act, and what he sees never stays outside him. It settles, questions, and transforms. His paintings are not declarations but sambhaashan, silent conversations between his inner self and a world that reveals itself in fragments. On the canvas, the boundary between the seen and the seer dissolves, and observing and becoming are one and the same. He continues as a learner, shaped by every line, every pause, every moment of attention. In the act of noticing, something within him is always being rewritten, and in that quiet becoming, his art finds its truth.
